Most Controversial Babas in India

1. Swami Nityananda                                      
     

Paramahamsa Nithyanand , who is known as a spiritual Guru from Tamil Nadu, shocked India recently when he was seen in a shocking video in bed with an actress from Tamil movie industry. Cases of rape, criminal intimidation and cheating among others have since been filed against the Godman based on various complaints. He was later arrested in Himachal Pradesh and is presently serving sentence in jail.

2. Permananda

He is also known as Tiruchi Sai Baba. He is serving life imprisonment on charges of rape and murder in 1994. He is having supporters in DMK also.  He is being charged with many cases of rape and forced abortions. He is also accused in the murder case of an engineer who has opposed his activities in the ashram.

3. Sant Swami Bhimanand Ji Maharaj Chitrakoot wale



The original name of this saint is Shiv Murti Dvivedi. Ichchhadhari Bhimananad, a self-styled godman who preached spirituality while running a prostitution racket, was arrested in late June,2010. He was earlier arrested for prostituition in a massage parlour in 1988. Swami says that he suffers from Scizophrenia and has a dual personality (Namaste Aparichit saab!). He also believes that he is unaware of what his 'evil twin' is capable of

4. Santosh Madhavan



He was a priest in the temple and also was an astrologer, who is now in the most wanted list. He was arrested in 2008 in Alappuzha of Kerala. A woman from Dubai put forth a case against him stating that he had cheated her to the extent of 50 lakhs. Also a rape case was alleged on him regarding a 15 year old girl. He is running an ashram by name Swami Amrutha Chaitanya.

5. Aasaram Bapu



Asaram Bapu, who has hundreds of thousands of followers in India and abroad, including in Canada, and is well known for his discourses on Hindu religion. This claimed spiritual guru was arrested on a rape charge filed by a teenage girl in the northwestern Indian state of Rajasthan.
